We are seeking an experienced Coatings Operations Manager with a proven track record of over 7 years in overseeing daily production processes and personnel in the coatings manufacturing industry. As the Coatings Operations Manager, you will report directly to the Director of Operations and play a crucial role in ensuring a safe work environment, regulatory compliance, and the optimization of key performance indices for maximum profitability.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coatings Manufacturing Processes: Manage and optimize all aspects of coatings manufacturing processes, ensuring efficiency, quality, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Troubleshooting and Quality Control: Be the expert on coatings manufacturing products, troubleshooting processes, and products to maintain defect-free products through continuous improvement in procedures and processes.
  • Workflow Optimization: Schedule workflow and personnel for maximum efficiency, ensuring customer satisfaction and production efficiencies within coatings manufacturing.
  • Resource Management: Allocate resources, including manpower, equipment, and materials, to achieve production targets in coatings manufacturing.
  • Health and Safety: Champion a safety-first culture and enforce adherence to health and safety protocols, conducting regular inspections to maintain a safe work environment specific to coatings manufacturing.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Lead, mentor, and inspire a diverse workforce in coatings manufacturing, providing coaching and training to enhance skills and performance.
  • Process Optimization: Identify opportunities for process optimization, collaborating with the R&D team to introduce new technologies and innovations to the coatings manufacturing process.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels and ensure adequate stock of raw materials and finished products within coatings manufacturing.
  • Customer Focus: Collaborate with the sales and customer service teams to meet customer requirements and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction within coatings manufacturing.
  • Ensure safe and legal business conduct, compliance with policies, and adherence to laws within the coatings manufacturing domain.
  • Formulate and administer company policies, coordinate department activities, and develop long-range goals specifically tailored to coatings manufacturing.
  • Lead coordination and integration efforts for smoother workflows, cost-effective business processes, and continuous improvement in coatings manufacturing.
  • Review analyses of activities, costs, operations, and forecast data to drive progress toward goals in coatings processes.
  • Oversee departments, resolve issues, identify improvement opportunities, and ensure minimal costs for future growth in coatings manufacturing.
  • Establish metrics, guidelines, and standards for evaluating efficiency and effectiveness specifically in coatings manufacturing, and identifying improvement opportunities.
  • Support 6S programs and initiatives, tailoring them to the specific needs of coatings manufacturing.
  • Support the digital strategy, aiming to automate production, supply chain, customer services, warehouse management, and other responsible areas within coatings manufacturing.

Key Qualifications

  • Experience: Over 7 years in complex coatings manufacturing operations, specializing in developing and implementing new coatings processes, leading manufacturing teams, and continuous improvement.
  • Education: B.S. in Engineering (Chemical, Materials, Polymer), Chemistry, or a related field. Advanced degree (MBA, MS, PhD) preferred.
  • Certifications: Lean/Six Sigma Certification preferred (Greenbelt or Blackbelt).
  • Leadership: Proven ability to manage employees and allocate resources efficiently.
  • Skills: Expertise in color matching (AMS-595), cross-departmental coordination, leadership, data analysis (Excel, PowerBI), and ERP systems (Sage X3, SAP, etc.).
  • Training: Ability to demonstrate and train in proper procedures.
