Position Description

 

Carry out the day-to-day operations of the Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) department and contribute to the application of effective Health, Safety, and Environmental management by providing technical support.

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 Health, Safety and Environmental Management System (HSEMS). Ensure the everyday application of the HSEMS in-house and by suppliers (perform audits, pilot’s improvement action plans, support external audits by customers and certification agencies).

  • Assist in compliance reviews, general risk assessments and other safety assessments to support the HSEMS and 6S program.

  • Maintain relevant HSE/6S logs and documentation.

  • Assist in the compliance of applicable laws and regulations.

  • Prepare applicable HSE/6S reports, as necessary.

  • Provide assistance and advice on HSE/6S issues to make recommendations to facility management.

  • Participate in detailed incident investigations and Root Cause Analysis.

  • Promote incident prevention for the benefit of employees and visitors.

  • Assist in the development and presentation of relevant HSE/6S training, audits, and budgets.

  • Observe HSE regulations, wears all required safety equipment, encourages safe working practices, corrects obvious hazards immediately or reports them to the proper personnel. Recommend and implement changes to improve job efficiency.

  • Ability to work with employees and achieve cultural change in the face of potential resistance

  • Maintain positive and proactive relations with managers and employees, as well as our customers and regulatory agencies.

  • Perform other work-related tasks as required as assigned

 

 

Facility Specific Responsibilities:

 

  • Walk the manufacturing floor on a regular basis to establish HSE/6S presence and provide support.
  • Conduct HSE/6S Meetings/Trainings/Audits and schedule as needed.
  • Perform facility HSE/6S Inspections
  • Ability to evaluate PPE and ensure proper use and maintenance of PPE
  • Have knowledge and enforce compliance of Regulatory requirements (i.e. OSHA, CalOSHA, EPA, etc.), including company
  • HSE/6S policies and procedures.
  • Ability to oversee Hazardous Waste Storage area and ensure regulatory agency compliance i.e. labeling, containment, proper disposal, documentation, etc.
  • Help develop Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by QHSE Manager.

Key Qualifications:

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and be computer literate.

  • Associate Degree in Occupational, Health & Safety Sciences a plus
