Position Description

 

This position requires a certain level of scientific and technical understanding. A prior undergraduate degree in an appropriate field is highly encouraged, to serve as a basis for the training this employee will receive on the job.

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • This position is for the 2nd shift: Monday through Friday from 2:30 PM to 11 PM
  • Carry out all physiochemical analysis and characterization tests required for raw materials, in-process products, and finished products. Inspect these products for conformance to specifications or release requirements.
  • Preparation of certificate of analysis and other related product documentation in support of customer quality program needs, including but not limited to Certificates of Conformance, SDS, COO’s, etc.
  • Prepare and maintain records and documentation of inspection acceptance, rejection and/or re-work requirements.
  • Set-up and/or adjust and operate inspection equipment to ensure its accuracy.
  • Coordinate with Operations on batch Quality Control related issues.
  • Maintain Lab 6S to achieve maximum efficiency, professional appearance and ensure that good practices are followed when utilizing laboratory and production analytical equipment.
  • Notifies the quality and/or production department of necessary changes and/or additions in quality documents for the laboratory.
  • Ensure laboratory reagents are properly marked to satisfy OSHA guidelines for Hazardous Communication.
  • Dictates overall laboratory needs to the Laboratory Manager as necessary.
  • Comply with and understand all safety rules and company policies for chemical lab and plant operations.
  • Follow Quality Processes and comply with all requirements of the Quality System Manual, including but not limited to Quality Forms and Work Instructions.
  • Performs various other duties assigned by supervisor, within the physical constraints of the job. Supports all plant personnel as deemed necessary.



Key Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate level (Bachelors, Associates or Technical) Degree in an applicable field (Chemistry / Materials Science / Process Science)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent research, analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to write technical reports and maintain laboratory and production logs.
  • Ability to read and comprehend critical production documents.
  • Ability to interpret quality control specifications and schematics or drawings.
  • Ability to adhere to AS9100D quality requirements in the workspace and while performing work.
  • Exhibits a positive, open and friendly attitude.
  • Familiarity with common PC applications utilized in a workplace environment (Microsoft Office / Adobe Acrobat).
  • Must be able to wear the required PPE (lab coat, safety glasses, laboratory gloves, steel-toed shoes), and any additional equipment as required (full or half face respirator, fire retardant clothing, hardhat)

 

Skill Recommendations:

  • Familiarity with SAE AS9100D or other similar quality management systems.
  • Familiarity with ERP system software (Sage X3, SAP, etc) on a basic level.
